Aside from the aesthetics appeal, they also improve the air quality. Indoor plants need delicate care because if it’s not taken care of well, it will wither and die but over caring it will also make it die. Indoor Plants

Watering Properly

The potting soil of the plant should be kept moist all the time. But be careful, moist and wet are two different things. If you have thick leafed plants like succulents, the soil should dry out between watering. Do not keep the soil too damp or too dry because it will lead to roots dying. The plants should be kept hydrated. Don’t wait until it gets to the point where the leaves wilt or the soil is too dry that it starts to pull away from the container’s edge.

Over drying kills the plants, but overwatering can also become a factor of their death. If you overwater the plant, the air is forced from the soil and fungus and root-killing bacteria comes in. One of the houseplants killers is over watering.

Light

Every plant has different watering needs, and they also have different lighting needs. There are plants that need direct sunlight, and there are those that supplement from grow light. For example, flowering plants should be put near the windows on the west, east or south side of the house. Foliage lights need whether low, moderate or high light. There are plants that can survive in the areas where there is low light, and there are those that can survive with lights diffusing through a thin curtain.

Humidity

Most of indoor plants can survive in a place with high humidity, mostly around 80%. The thing is that most of our houses are drier. That’s why a humidifier can help so you can increase the moisture near your plants. You can put a tray with water and pebbles to boost the humidity. You can also mist the leaves of the plants. The kitchen and bathroom have high humidity, so plants like orchids and gardenias are best to put there.

Fertilizer

Indoor plants don’t only need light, water and humidity. It also needs nutrients to keep itself healthy and thriving. Plants naturally deplete the nutrients in the soil and they don’t have a nutrient replenishment like the outdoor plants. You should fertilize the plants at least once a month. If the plant shows kind of weakness, it needs more fertilizer.

Repotting

If the plant is healthy, it will grow and will need a bigger pot. The best season to repot the plants is during spring, where they are just starting to grow. The growth of the root will allow the plant to easily adjust to its new pot.
